The Best Mid-Level Adventure Bikes In India In 2024

For those of us who find entry-level motorcycles too weak for our taste, here is the mid-level lineup of adventure bikes available in the country. This segment layer offers a mix of foreign and domestic lineups of bikes. However, unlike in the past, where domestic meant bad quality, now you should avoid underestimating the domestic line-up. Even the so-called 'elephant' (Royal Enfields) in the room has grown to match the quality of her firangi counterparts.

6. Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

Himalayan 450 is the less celebrated but more refined and powerful cousin of Himalayan 411. At a power-to-weight ratio of 0.20, the bike offers adequate power to propel it at a competitive peg among the segment. The bike's power, weight, features, and aesthetics are head-to-head with the best foreign counterparts like Versys, TRK, and Honda.

However, Royal Enfield's vast network of service centers gives this bike an unbeatable advantage. The large fuel tank also makes it more reliable for touring remote regions. RE has done a great job adapting the bike to the average height of Indian adventurers with a 795mm seat height.

Even with all these advantages, the bike's most prized spec is its price. At below Rs 3 lakhs ex-showroom price, the Himalayan 540 gets the sweetest spot of price-to-power ratio.

The bike's fuel capacity of 17.7 liters is an average compared to other models in the segment, and so does its seat height at 830 mm. However, with dual cylinders and a refined engine, Honda offers comfort with greater power. At a Rs 6 lakhs+ price tag, this bike is also one of the most expensive in the segment.
  • Engine: 471cc, Twin Cylinder
  • Power: 46.9 bhp
  • Kerb Weight: 199 kg
  • Torque: 43.2 Nm @ 6,500 rpm

Benelli TRK 502

Benelli TRK 502 offers the largest engine in this adventure bike segment. However, it also tops the chart for weight with 235 Kg kerb weight, 46 NM of torque, and front suspension travel of 50 mm. Despite all that extra power, the bike gets a power-to-weight (P2W) ratio of 0.20, equal to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The price tag of Rs 5.84 lakhs puts the bike at the third peg.

Though not the most expensive, the bike does offer features and power comparable to its larger counterparts. We have considered it in this segment due to engine capacity and price. However, don't believe us, take a test ride before rolling out your judgment. The bike's weight has been the only off-putting feature for us.
